There are a couple of things that can make it challenging to share homemade treats with some of my favorite people - distance and special diets. So I'm often looking for recipe ideas that will travel well and stay fresh for a few days. And I'm always searching for treats that are both delicious and gluten-free/dairy-free. This recipe covers all of those wishes! Even if it didn't, I would still be so excited about these granola bars. They are really easy to make, delicious for any diet, and pretty healthy too (bonus!).
I first saw a link to this recipe idea on my friend Ellen's blog. She shared a link to 5-Ingredient Granola Bars from the Minimalist Baker, and I've had the link saved for months now. Today, I wanted to make a treat for someone who lives out of state and luckily remembered this recipe! I decided to go with a cherry-chocolate flavor combination, just because it sounded yummy, and swapped out pecans for the almonds. These bars are so delicious! I almost didn't want to send them away. But luckily they're easy enough to make again and again. And the basic method will be easy to play around with in terms of flavors. I can't wait for the next excuse to make these!
